Coronavirus Information
Supply information
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to sweep the nation and impact businesses, FUCHS understands the potential risk the event poses to the world’s supply chain. We will continue to review our global supply chain as it relates to our business in the US and Canada.
The health protection of our employees and business partners is our absolute priority while at the same time we are doing everything we can to secure our business processes to service and supply our customers.
FUCHS has revisited its raw material supply chain situation as it relates to the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), and we are happy to report we do not anticipate any interruption in our raw material supply due to this event. We are confident that our raw material and finished goods inventories are sufficient to meet our anticipated finished product volume commitments.
Our evaluation is based upon today’s condition, which we recognize may change. With that in mind, we will regularly assess our supply chain and if necessary, will advise if we see any potential issues.
We encourage our customers to contact their sales representatives with additional questions. For several weeks now, we have been working with a crisis management team that centrally coordinates risk minimization measures. The health protection of our employees and business partners has absolute priority. At the same time, we are doing everything in our power to secure our business processes and thus the service and supply for our customers.
We thank you for your understanding and wish you and your employees good health and come through the crisis in good shape. Our supply chains are currently intact, with production operating on a regular basis, and order processing as well as deliveries take place reliably.
Technical Information
During this unprecedented time there are concerns about COVID-19 and the impact it may have on metal working fluids. Although research has not been conducted regarding this topic, FUCHS will provide assistance where it is needed to ensure you are working with the safest metal working fluids.
Because the virus is still very new, and there are many unknowns, we suggest the following information and guidance while handling potentially contaminated metal working fluids:
- Although there is some information on the life of the virus on hard surfaces, there has been no testing on the life of the virus in liquid matrices, specifically metal working fluids. To our knowledge, there have been no Covid-19 cases related to metal working fluid exposure.
If you have concerns about the quality of your water-containing machining fluid:
- Properly dispose of system contents, clean all machine surfaces with an alkaline cleaner such as RENOCLEAN SGC 72. Please note: This product is not registered as a disinfectant and has not been confirmed as effective.
- Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when working with metal working fluids.
- Common tank side additives such as biocides and fungicides have no proven effect on COVID-19.
FUCHS is committed to keeping our customers healthy and safe and will continue to monitor www.cdc.gov/coronavirus for information as it becomes available.
Please reach out to your local representative if you have any questions or concerns.
