FUCHS Lubricants Pivotal to Navara's Double Victory in Taklimakan Rally 2018

Lauded as the Dakar Rally of China, the Taklimakan Rally is the greatest and toughest cross-country rally for the Chinese people. This international off-road event where motorbikes, cars and trucks race at the same venue is the first in Asia, and its scale is the largest in China.

Taklimakan Rally 2018 was held between June 2nd and 14th in Xinjiang, with routes passing Urumqi, Turpan, Hami and Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture. The race distance covered nearly 5,000km - with 9 special stages of 2,800km. Snow-capped mountains, deserts, lakes, vertical sand dunes and yardangs featured prominently in this year's race. The race attracted a total entry of 90 automobiles and 16 motorcycles. Long distances and rough terrains are the highlights of this year's rally.

Race conditions are known to be brutal and the competition onerous; the complexity of rally tracks will be a true test of the performance of automotive lubricants. FUCHS Lubricants provided aid and support to the attempt by Zhengzhou Nissan's Team Navara at this year's rally. Temperatures reaching 40℃, unforeseeable sandstorms and the labyrinth of race tracks could not deter the drivers from marching forward like frontier warriors. With courage and conviction, they braved mud and soil, wind and rain for the sole purpose of staging this off-road extravaganza. With the assistance of FUCHS lubricants, Zhengzhou-Nissan Navaras emerged as the champion of T2 group (Cross-Country Series Production Vehicles) after topping 5 stages and as double champion of T2.1 group (Petrol Cross-Country series production vehicles).
