White oils for industry - high quality, versatile and well proven
White oils are highly refined mineral oils that are used in many different industrial applications due to their purity and stability. The areas of application range from the food and pharmaceutical industries to the cosmetics and plastics industries to the paint and textile industries.
What is white oil?
White oils are colourless, odourless and tasteless. They consist of twice hydrogenated, fully saturated hydrocarbons and are characterised by the following properties:
- High purity: White oils contain virtually no impurities and are free of additives, allergens, pesticides and heavy metals.
- Chemical stability: They are chemically stable, colour and oxidation resistant and have a long shelf life.
- Temperature resistance: White oils can be used at high temperatures without evaporating or degrading.
- Material compatibility: Due to its chemical properties, white oil is compatible with many materials - including plastics, elastomers, metals, paints and coatings.
- Easy to remove: White oils are easy to remove and do not cause any residue or contamination on surfaces or textiles.
- Good processability and tolerability
White oils are produced by refining and deodorising predominantly paraffinic base oils. The process includes several steps such as deparaffinisation, decolourisation and dearomatisation. The result is a transparent and highly pure oil that is odourless and tasteless - available in various viscosities.
Medical white oil
Medical or pharmaceutical white oil must meet high purity standards (e.g. Ph. Eur., USP, FDA). It must not contain any impurities such as aromatic hydrocarbons, heavy metals or other harmful substances. The raw materials used must also meet the highest requirements. Thus, medicinal white oils are subject to strict quality and safety controls to ensure that they are suitable for human use or for use in pharmaceutical products.
Technical white oil
In contrast, technical white oil does not necessarily have to meet these high purity requirements. It is an oil being hydrogenated only once. Technical white oil is mainly used in technical applications as a process oil or as an ingredient of one and is used in various industries such as the plastics industry, food industry, paint and printing industry and the textile industry.

White oil for cosmetic applications
White oils are the ideal raw material for the production of cosmetics. They are easy to apply, well tolerated and usually do not cause skin irritations. As formulation components of high-quality cosmetic products, white oils are particularly convincing thanks to their effective protective effect and colour, as well as being a perfect consistency provider.
- Skin care products: In lotions, creams and ointments, white oils serve as moisturisers and help keep the skin supple and soft.
- Hair care products: White oils are also used in shampoos, conditioners and other hair care products. They improve the combability of the hair and help to condition and protect it.
- Lip care products: White oils are also often contained in lip balms and lipsticks. They act as emollients and ensure supple lips.
- Sun protection products: By using white oil, an even distribution of sun cream or sun lotion is ensured, resulting in a high protection factor.
White oil for the food industry
White oils are a popular choice in the food industry due to their high purity and stability. They are ideal as processing aids in the production of foods and their packaging, as well as for formulations that come into contact with food.
White oil is also a popular raw material for the production of lubricants that ensure the service life of machines and tools in the food industry.
Further areas of application
Since white oils are largely environmentally compatible, inherently biodegradable and non-toxic, they are valued in many other industries and sectors and are almost indispensable.
White oils are also used in the plastics and rubber industry to improve the properties of plastics and rubber. They serve as plasticisers, lubricants and release agents and thus improve the processing and durability of these materials.
White oils are also used in the textile industry, in paints and varnishes as well as in paper production and processing and are thus widely used.
