We run on 100% renewable energy

14.01.2021 - 11:20

FUCHS LUBRICANTES has received the certificate confirming 100% renewable energy consumption at its facilities, issued by Globeenergy and endorsed by the National Commission on Markets and Competition (CNMC).

FUCHS has been working for years on energy efficiency throughout the production cycle of its lubricants. The certificate awarded by Globeenergy confirms the company's commitment to renewable energies. This initiative will directly benefit FUCHS' customers by opting for more eco-efficient products of the highest quality.

The introduction of this initiative has helped the organisation to achieve one of the priority goals of its environmental policy: to significantly reduce CO2 emissions into the atmosphere by adopting ecological principles in terms of consumption, manufacturing, transport and the gradual reduction of waste generation.

FUCHS LUBRICANTES is working hard to meet the Sustainable Development Goals promoted by the European Union. In addition to its firm commitment to renewable energies, in order to improve its production chain and actively contribute to respect for the planet, it is also carrying out research into the development of biogenic raw materials that do not harm the ecosystem, as an alternative to fossil raw materials.

Photovoltaic system

FUCHS has begun installing photovoltaic panels on its premises. A total of 748 panels will cover an area of 1,652 m2 on the roof of the company's new finished-product warehouse, as well as on the existing raw-material warehouse.

The system, which will be completed in January this year, will provide 332.86 kWp of power, covering 43% of the company's annual consumption. Although the energy produced will initially be for self-consumption, FUCHS, as owner of the facility, has not ruled out supplying the electrical grid with the surplus, as a firm commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency.

Production of eco-efficient lubricants

FUCHS is firmly committed to sustainability and for more than a decade has reached important milestones that produce a positive economic and ecological impact on its customers. As part of its environmental policy, it is directly involved in research programmes and projects, particularly on the use of more sustainable raw materials.

One of the organisation's latest actions has been to promote the development of carbon-neutral products, through the involvement of its raw material suppliers who are responsible for 90% of the carbon footprint in the final lubricant.
