New generation of high-performance engine oils for heavy goods vehicles

Anyone working with commercial vehicles knows that a maintenance product like engine oil should simply work without being noticed. FUCHS’s versatile, high-performance TITAN CARGO MAXX products have quickly established themselves as streamlining products for various heavy vehicle manufacturers. And now we introduce the next generation: TITAN CARGO MAXX II.

With ACEA E4, E6, E7, E8, E9 and E11 in combination with the latest API CK-4 specification, we are now facing a new standard on engine oils for commercial vehicles. Modern and futureproof – with such new approvals, specifications and recommendations that they’re barely on the market yet.

The new product series has been developed alongside Europe’s leading engine manufacturers, and tailor-made to meet the demands of today’s highly technical engines. With approvals from all the major engine makers (including Scania, Volvo, MAN, Mercedes and Caterpillar), we can guarantee that it will help even the newest and most advanced engines perform optimally.

Ideal for large fleets of heavy vehicles

Many companies use the same oil out of habit, but using conventional engine oils for modern vehicle stock is not ideal. This is because older engine oils do not have the ability to deal with exhaust aftertreatment systems with particulate filters, diesel oxidation catalytic converters, exhaust gas recirculation and SCR catalysts (like Volvo VDS 4.5). They may even risk shortening the life of the systems and reducing operational reliability in modern vehicles.

One major benefit is that the new generation is designed to meet the latest specifications for vehicles with both turbo and exhaust aftertreatment, while also being compatible with older engine types that may be in the same fleet. It can quite simply be used for most heavy vehicles, including construction machines, agricultural machines and ATVs.

“The new oils cost a bit more than conventional ones, but they’re also far more efficient and boost the lifetime costs,” says Kenny Åhlfeldt, an Application Engineer in Automotive. “I personally think it would be hard to find a better and more sustainable all-round product. The perfect choice if you want to have as few products as possible.”

Lower fuel consumption and long change intervals

Modern, low viscosity engine oils are easy to pump and move efficiently through an engine system, which means faster, gentler cold starts – even in severely low temperatures. Exceptional oxidation stability and the ability to efficiently neutralise acidic combustion residues in the oil mean optimum protection against wear and corrosion, also under the heaviest loads. By preventing the formation of deposits in the engine system, critical components can also work as intended throughout the entire life cycle.

The products are of course approved for the longest possible drain and change interval, with operational reliability and performance that remain stable between oil changes. The outstanding oxidation stability also contributes to further fuel savings. Replacing a conventional quality engine oil with TITAN CARGO MAXX II can save up to 1% in fuel over the entire oil change interval, partly depending on the choice of viscosity level. With several vehicles in a fleet, this can make a serious difference.

“It sometimes pays to think more long-term rather than saving a few kronor on the oil in the short term,” says Åhlfeldt. “After all, we’re talking about very expensive high-performance vehicles, so anything that helps to guarantee operational reliability for as long as possible has to be the smartest choice – for your finances and the environment.”
