FUCHS presents sponsorship award of EUR 50,000 to 15 social projects in Mannheim
The global lubricant manufacturer FUCHS PETROLUB SE will present the FUCHS sponsorship award for the seventeenth time on October 26, 2016. A large number of worthy projects, which in particular focus on social cohesion and civic engagement in Mannheim, are to be awarded a sponsorship sum of EUR 50,000 in total. Mayor Dr. Peter Kurz will once again act as patron.
"The FUCHS sponsorship award carries the motto 'Helping People' and expresses our recognition of the many voluntary helpers who achieve great things with their work, far from the limelight. I would especially like to thank the many people whose efforts make the implementation of the social projects possible," says Stefan Fuchs, Chairman of the Executive Board of FUCHS PETROLUB.
With EUR 7,000, the highest individual amount will go to the "Kulturparkett Rhein-Neckar" association. The organization dedicates itself to social and cultural participation and collects admission tickets for cultural events, which are then donated to adults and children with low incomes. The "Mannheimer Straßenschule" will receive EUR 6,000 for the project "My Future - My Success", in which students are prepared for a school leaver's certificate outside of the normal school system and receive coaching on careers. "Wohnhaus Wallstadt" will receive EUR 5,000 EUR for setting up a snoezelen room for helping people with severe disabilities find relaxation and new stimuli. The "Mannheimer Cleverlinge²" project run by KinderHelden gGmbH supports children from disadvantaged backgrounds in Mannheim by providing them with mentors who introduce them to the varied learning and leisure opportunities that the city has to offer. This project will also receive EUR 5,000. With its "Mädchenwerkstatt" ("girls' workshop") project, the "Lichtblick" support group of the Maria Montessori school provides a protected space in which girls can acquire manual skills and learn how to handle tools safely. The project will be awarded EUR 4,000. An award of EUR 3,700 will enable "Lebenshilfe Mannheim" to build a little house for a kindergarten. The children will be able to collect and return their toy vehicles in this little house, giving them a flavor of independence. The "zeitraumexit" cultural association will receive EUR 3,500 for the "Drawing Outsider Art International" project. Zeitraumexit displayed drawings from artists with mental disabilities in an exhibition for the first time, thereby encouraging social interaction between people with and without disabilities. EUR 2,500 has been donated to the "Sexual education work with unaccompanied refugee children" project run by the "pro familia Mannheim" association. The aim of this initiative is to strengthen intercultural competence and communication skills. A further EUR 2,500 will go to the cross-school "FILM-AG" project of the "Internationaler Bund" association, in which students who are interested in films can actively take part in the production of a film. The "Groovy music group with and for mentally ill people" project run by "Sozialdienst katholischer Frauen e.V." inspires people with mental illnesses to make music. This project will receive EUR 1,700. The "Elterninitiative Sterntaler e.V." association will be awarded another EUR 1,600 for the "Pirate world" participation project, in which the outdoor play area is to be redesigned and given a pirate theme. The children can contribute their own wishes and ideas for this. The "Namaste hip-hop - youth culture exchange" project of the "Förderverein Jugendhaus Waldpforte" association will be supported to the tune of EUR 1,500. This initiative aims to bring people together through hip-hop music, broadening horizons and making a contribution to development aid. Children take on responsibility for bees in the "Bee project" of the "Verein für Sozial- und Kulturpädagogik" association, thus strengthening their social skills. The project will receive EUR 1,000. Furthermore, the regional "Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Selbsthilfegruppen" ("Working group of self-help groups") organization in Mannheim will be sponsored with a sum of EUR 5,000. The key aim here is to support self-help groups which tackle social isolation due to illness and stress.
In addition, Willis GmbH & Co. KG, the insurance broker of FUCHS, will once again be donating EUR 5,000. The donation will go to the project "Neuro- Kids Mannheim: the mission is possible!" run by the "Neurologisch erkrankte Kinder Mannheim" association ("Neurologically ill children Mannheim").
