FUCHS supports 18-year-old driver Rafael Rêgo
"My dream is to become a national rally champion," says Rafael Rêgo. FUCHS wants to support one of Portugal's most talented young drivers in his quest to realise this dream. That's why it's now his main sponsor. "We believe in our contribution to Rafael's success and we see the values of FUCHS in his dedication, passion, capacity for work and enormous desire to win," emphasises André Castro Pinheiro, FUCHS' automotive director.
Rafael Rêgo will make his debut in FUCHS colours in the Peugeot Rally Cup Portugal this weekend, 15 and 16 March, at the Rally Casinos do Algarve. The son of former rally driver Jorge Rêgo, a contemporary and friend of Ricardo Teodósio, Rafael Rêgo has the four-time Algarve champion, also supported by FUCHS, as his "godfather". Ricardo Teodósio is an example to follow, from whom he receives precious "recommendations, both in terms of driving and mentality, on how I should approach the races", explains the young driver from Odivelas who started karting at the age of 9. Today he's 18 and has already won important prizes: he's a two-time Rally Cross novice champion and came second in the 2023 FPAK Junior Team Trophy.
This time, his navigator will be Rui Serra and Rafael Rêgo feels confident of a good result in the championship. He says his goal is to "continue to evolve in this variant of motorsport that I fell in love with in 2023. Being part of the 24 family, and having Ricardo Teodósio and José Teixeira as my godparents, will allow me to continue to grow as a driver." The young driver is grateful to "the partners who have associated themselves with the project, especially FUCHS Portugal, which has guaranteed our participation."
In addition, "I know how important the quality of lubricants is in competition and I'm very happy that FUCHS is investing in me," emphasises Rafael Rêgo. This confidence is shared by FUCHS: "We have the best lubrication solutions, we're the brand for garages. In competition, given the level of demand, lubricants are even more important. We want to accompany Rafael, support him in his development and help him go as far as possible in any competition," says André Castro Pinheiro.
