Food industry: FUCHS ensures production with total safety
Food safety starts in industry. Consumers rarely remember that. World Food Safety Day is celebrated on 7 June. On this date, the focus is on the various factors that together ensure healthy eating, from production to the preservation and preparation of food at home. At the various stages, biological, chemical and physical hazards are always present, which means a huge responsibility for manufacturers.
How can production control be improved? How can human error be minimised? ‘A fundamental factor for Food Safety in the factory is being able to produce without interruption. Every stoppage, every intervention increases the danger,’ says Carlos Braga, Technical Director of FUCHS Portugal, adding: ’That's why FUCHS offers Food Quality Lubricants and Degreasers that keep equipment and installations running, protect machines and extend their life. And when a line does stop, our customers can count on SAT - FUCHS Technical Assistance Services. We have a dedicated team that anticipates possible problems and resolves any situations that may arise.’
CASSIDA, RENISO, SUPERLA and RIVOLTA are FUCHS' Food Quality lubricant ranges. All the products in these ranges ensure quality, safety and efficiency at every stage of the production process right through to bottling and packaging, whether for food, beverages or animal feed. ‘Our products are high performance and optimise production processes. Naturally, they have all the necessary certifications to ensure the aforementioned Food Safety,’ says the Technical Director of FUCHS Portugal.
To guarantee safe drinks and food, rigour has been increasing with the BRCGS and IFS certifications in the food industry. For this reason, their implementation is being extended to the entire supply chain. FUCHS, in addition to having its lubricants homologated to fulfil these requirements, also produces them according to ISO 21469, the only way to guarantee that production also complies with the high standards of Food Safety.
‘The food-grade lubricants of the future must have a synthetic base. This is the only way to avoid critical substances such as aromatic hydrocarbons (MOAH) and saturated hydrocarbons (MOSH). Our CASSIDA range already anticipates the future. It is completely free of these substances,’ emphasises Carlos Braga.
FUCHS carries out LCCP audits
Is your production in line with HACCP requirements? When it comes to lubrication, FUCHS can provide an answer.
To do this, it carries out LCCP audits that assess the Food Safety of production in relation to lubrication. The aim of these audits is to ensure that companies are in line with HACCP requirements. Here, the factors of optimising lubrication, increasing food safety and assessing the storage and handling of lubricants are considered. All lubrication systems and methods are also checked in order to review the practices implemented.
