Biocides – new labelling requirements from 1 December 2018
19.09.2018 - 01:00
The EU REACH Committee is behind the directive, which entails the following:
- Products with biocides MBO, MBM or HPT must be reclassified as carcinogenic if the total theoretical concentration of releasable formaldehyde in a mixture exceeds 0.1%.
- Eight other formaldehyde-releasing biocides are being examined and are expected to require the same labelling.
- The new labelling applies from 1 December 2018.
- In addition to new labelling, changes are needed in workplaces that continue to use the substances; for instance new instruction, workplace marking requirements and registers.
At FUCHS, we will have a brand new range based on new technology in place by 1 December 2018.
