Oxford Brookes Racing launch 2018 car
This season marks a shift in philosophy for OBR, with a new approach to the design and development of the car.
OBR18 is this season's competitor from Oxford Brookes Racing. The single seater features a comprehensive aero package, highly-tuneable suspension and a carbon-fibre chassis. The team's lightweight and efficient KTM 450 SXF engine accelerates the car up to 60mph in just 4 seconds, with the vehicle capable of 2.5Gs lateral acceleration during cornering. New for this season are electron beam melted titanium uprights, reducing unsprung mass by 50%. Another addition for this season are the bargeboards on the front wheels, implementing innovative composite technologies. The powertrain system has also been greatly improved, with a new 3D printed intake saving 53% mass, as well as improved exhaust and anti-vibration systems. All in all, it is an evolution of the overall concept from OBR17, but still featuring new and innovative engineering to improve reliability and increase performance.
The team will be competing both at Formula Student UK and at Formula Student Austria this season.
OBR is comprised of Engineering, Business and English students, all the way from Foundation up to Master's at Oxford Brookes University. OBR are positioned in the heart of the UK's motorsport valley, with an alumni working in every Formula 1 team.
FUCHS LUBRICANTS are proud to sponsor OBR and wish them all the best in this years racing.
