FUCHS LUBRICANTS BHRC Carlisle Stages award winners announced
The special award winners from the third round of the 2018 FUCHS LUBRICANTS MSA British Historic Rally Championship, the ATL Carlisle Stages (8/9 June), have been announced.
Paul Street and Ian Jones collected the award for the ‘Best Improvement on Seeding’, which is a set of axle brake pads from Mintex. They finished an excellent tenth in the historic field and finally achieved their aim of finishing in Kielder at the third attempt. Their two previous rallies in Kielder had ended in ditches.
The ‘Spirit of the Rally’ product award from FUCHS Lubricants went to Matthew Robinson and Sam Collis after their first overall BHRC victory. As usual, for this most sporting of crews, they were quick to praise the speed of their rivals and were genuinely disappointed when Ieuan Rowlands and Emyr Hall slid into a ditch on the penultimate stage.
Finally, Rowlands and Hall were clear candidates for the ‘Hard Charger’ award of a 20-litre jerry can from Green Valley Industrial Supplies. They set a fierce pace from the very start and showed that the BRM-engined Hillman Avenger now has rally-winning potential.
