Good weekend for Sharp Motorsport at Snetterton
After such a strong result at Oulton park the team had high hopes for the next round of the championship which saw them take to the Snetterton 300 circuit for Rounds 7 & 8 of the Civic Cup.
During Friday's test day Arron started off steady learning the circuit layout and gauging how the civic cup car would react to the Snetterton circuit as he had only raced the Clio at this circuit.
During session 2 problems occurred, Arron had gearbox issues which meant finishing session 2 early, during the lunch hour the team removed the gearbox and refitted a spare to ensure Arron was back out on track for session 3, 15 minutes into session 3 more gearbox problems occurred, this now meant there was an issue with the spare gearbox. During Friday afternoon the team stripped both gearboxes and rebuilt one complete one which worked fine but this meant that valuable testing time was missed.
Arron went out on track Saturday afternoon for a 30-minute exclusive civic cup test session where he improved every single lap resulting in 4th fastest in the test session.
Dry conditions for qualifying meant it would be similar to testing where Arron managed to secure 13th position, this was ok considering he had very limited testing due to gearbox issues, this put him into a good position to break into the top ten in race one which was the plan.
Race one Arron started from 13th position, the first few laps seen Arron break into the top ten within 2/3 laps. Arron picked up slight contact on lap one which resulted in bent steering which had a massive effect on the cars handling performance, he kept pushing and was in a comfortable 10th position until he dropped back to 11th with two laps remaining, this meant that he just missed out on the top 10 reverse grid for race two but he still managed to gain places on his starting position.
Race two seen Arron start from 11th, he managed to get a really good start and gain multiple places into the first corner and challenged for another position on the outside into turn two, Arron was run wide onto the grass resulting in him loosing the positions he had just gained, he then had a steady race and managed to finish in tenth position.
Overall it was a good weekend and the results were respectable considering Arron has had very limited track time at this circuit and the lap times improved all the way through the weekend.
