13.09.2018 - 09:36

Countdown to Showdown

The countdown to the 2018 British Superbike Championship Showdown is well underway – and FUCHS Silkolene is well represented.

The six riders in the hunt for the title have now been revealed – and half of them use our FUCHS Silkolene products!

Glenn Irwin, Peter Hickman and championship leader Leon Haslam are all flying the Silkolene flag as the championship heads to Oulton Park this weekend.

Last weekend at Silverstone, Hickman completed a hat-trick of victories while Hickman narrowly held on to the final Title Fighter position despite technical problems in race three.

Irwin came home in P2, P3 and P4.

“I’m pleased to have achieved the objective of making it into the Showdown,” said Irwin. “We now need to make sure we don’t sit on our laurels and whilst there’s a lot of work to do to close the gap to Leon, two of the three Showdown circuits are strong for us, so we’ll give it our all."

Success for Bridgwater & Taunton College

Bridgwater & Taunton College Motorsport team enjoyed a belting weekend of racing at Brands Hatch Circuit in the Speed Group OSS Championship.

Josh Smith drove extremely well and finished second overall in race one.

Race two didn’t quite go to plan with a snapped drive shaft on the warm-up lap meaning a back-of-the-grid start for race three.

But Josh was in amazing form and finished first in class, third overall – and picked up driver of the race to boot.

Bogie dominates in Scotland

FUCHS Lubricants-backed David Bogie, of CA1Sport, and co-driver John Rowan won all of the stages on the Galloway Hills Rally in Scotland to take a dominant victory by 51 seconds.

It is the third time Bogie’s name has been etched on the Armstrong Galloway Hills Rally trophy.

Over 85 crews from across the UK and Ireland headed to the region to contest the 45th running of the popular event, organised by Solway, Machars and East Ayrshire Car Clubs.

“The stages have been superb and the rally is excellent as always,” said Bogie. “There has been some good competition too and it’s just one of those days where you can go home very happy.”

Burkinshaw top of the podium again at Cadwell

Rob Burkinshaw and RBMotorsport enjoyed a fruitful weekend at Cadwell Park in the Dream Automotive - Honda VTEC Challenge trophy.

Rob qualified in P1 and held that position with a fine drive in race one.

He suffered a speed sensor failure at the start of race two, but still managed to bring his Honda Integra home first, more than 44 seconds ahead of second place William Caswell.

Tim Neave impresses on bigger bike

FUCHS Silkolene-backed Tim Neave didn’t stop smiling all weekend as he got his first National Superstock 1000 races in the bag.

He finished with a 10th and a 12th in the two-part 100 mile race on Saturday, and P9 in the feature race on Sunday, with a best lap time of 55.8, just 0.4 off the lap record.

He’s back in action this weekend at Oulton Park.

Final round of 2018 for Dennis Racing

Sunday will see Dennis Hays and the team head to Donington Park for what will be the final round of 2018 in the DR1 with the Classic Sports Car Club.
