Assen Bound Be Wiser Ducati Duo Aim For Dutch Delight
The penultimate round of the 2018 Bennetts British Superbike Championship sees the FUCHS Silkolene ambassadors Glenn and Andrew Irwin head to the famous TT Circuit in Assen with the Carrickfergus brothers having slightly differing agendas.
For 28-year-old Glenn, he’s aiming to bounce back after a tough weekend at Oulton Park in the opening Showdown round at Oulton Park aboard Paul Bird’s factory-backed Be Wiser Ducati Panigale R. There, he missed the chance to close the gap on the two riders ahead of him in the standings, so he arrives at the Dutch track knowing nothing short of his first wins of the year will suffice if he’s to take his challenge into the final round at Brands Hatch next month.
As for 24-year-old sibling Andrew, he’ll be looking to carry on his superb form which saw him achieve his best BSB result of his short career when he took his Be Wiser Ducati Panigale R to fourth place in the mixed conditions at Oulton Park two weeks ago. And with Assen being a track where few have raced or tested since the corresponding meeting last year, Andrew is hoping the level playing field may work to his advantage this weekend for the Lake District-based team.
