Black / Gilbey blitz FUCHS Lubricants 1400 Challenge on Woodpecker rally

Callum Black and co-driver Michael Gilbey (Pictured) won their class on last weekend’s Woodpecker rally to clinch the FUCHS Lubricants 1400 Championship with one round to spare.  Once dropped scores are taken into account, the Black / Gilbey consistency throughout the year has sealed their position at the top of the table, and it was this attribute that once again proved to be the deciding factor on the Woodpecker’s five demanding stages.  In an astonishing feat, the pair finished in the top 20 overall (out of 151 starters) in their 1400 cc MG ZR S, putting many more powerful machines in their place.

Congratulations to Callum and Michael - FUCHS LUBRICANTS BTRDA 1400 Rally Champions 2019.

Naylor / Lawrence in 4 wheel drive fight on Woodpecker

Patrick Naylor and Ian Lawrence enjoyed a relatively trouble free run in the Mitsubishi Evo 9 to record a fine 5thplace overall and 1stin class N4 on the Woodpecker rally.  The pair were never out of the top ten fastest cars on each of the rallies five long stages, with a particularly good 5th fastest time on the 8.7 mile stage 5 (Haye Park).

The class battle with Scott Faulkner / Gareth Parry, also in a Mitsubishi Evo 9 now goes down to the wire on the long straights and tight junctions on the stages of north Yorkshire for the final round of the championship, the Trackrod rally on September 28th. Naylor / Lawrence have 95 points, giving a one point advantage over second placed Scott Faulkner / Gareth Parry on 94 points.

Winner takes all in Yorkshire!

Joel / Wood take Ford Escort Cosworth to top ten finish on Woodpecker

The penultimate round of the BTRDA rally championship saw Lancashire based Ian Joel and Graeme Wood take the long trip to Ludlow last weekend for this penultimate round of the BTRDA championship.  The five stages varied in length from 4.7 miles to 13.8 miles, with a tricky little 6.69 mile opener (Black Pool Gate) testing the crew’s tyre choice.  Having survived the blistering pace of that stage, the crew became more confident throughout the day, and set a string of top ten times, without taking too many risks, to finish in 6thplace overall, and collect 2ndin class B13.
