Great start for Ahlin and CA1 in BRC
Fredrik Ahlin and new co-driver Torstein Eriksen topped the time sheets to win the Brick and Steel Border Counties rally which became the new first round of the MSA British Rally Championship following the demise of the Mid wales Stages rally.
Fredrik drove faultlessly in his new Skoda R5 throughout a testing day in the Kielder forest complex to a convincing 38 second win over nearest rival Tom Cave.
New crew to the CA1 Sport outfit Jamie Anderson and Ross Whittock settled in well during the nine stage event to finish a comfortable 7th overall.
Early leaders David Bogie and Kevin Rae, also in a Skoda R5, started strongly but were unfortunate to clip a rock on stage 6, and were instantly sidelined with a broken steering arm.
