More Success for Bellerby Motorsport at Lydden Hill
Paige and Drew Bellerby were at Lydden Hill circuit in Kent on Easter Monday for the second round of the MSA British Rallycross Championship, and both were delighted with their podium successes!
Drew has moved up to the BMW Mini championship this year and secured a heat win in the morning session, putting into practice the skills and techniques she learnt during the practice day on Friday. She gained in both confidence and speed during the heats, and was pleased with her 3rd grid slot in the BMW Mini final (run with the Super 1600 class).
Drew got a blistering start, but immediately hit trouble when the pole-sitter stalled on the start line! After a minor punt, when she came into slight contact with the immoveable object in front of her, Drew dropped to fifth, but a sterling effort of skill, determination and concentration during the five lap final took her to the podium in third-place in the BMW Mini Final.
The Lotus Exige of Paige was out-powered in the Super National category final (Paige having driven smoothly during her heats to qualify on the front row of the Final grid), and she was beaten off the start line by the much more powerful Renault Clio from pole.
She chased and harried him throughout the final laps, until eventually he spun out. Paige was then given a clear run (including a fastest lap when she took her Joker lap!) to a well-deserved WIN in the Super National Final.
This result keeps Paige on top of her championship table.
The third round of the British Rallycross Championship is at Pembrey Circuit in south Wales on June 25th.
