Andy Marchant in the AMCA Vets Championship

09.06.2021 - 02:56

Going into this weekend’s Motorcross double header AMCA Vets Championship at Warmingham Lane Nr Middlewich, it was time for Andy Marchant to reset and enjoy! Saturday would be Round 3 of the Championship with Sunday being Round 4.

Round 3

Saturday saw Andy start to gel with things, managing to qualify in P5 going into the races.

A good start saw him inside the top 5 in race one where he felt the pressure from the riders behind straight away. At the halfway point Andy had dropped to P8 but with the races being a lot longer than he’s used to, he started to struggle. A few laps from the end, Andy made a silly mistake tipping the bike over in a rutted turn. Quickly remounting, he had to settle for P11 at the end of the race.

Fired up for race 2 after the disappointment of race one, Andy shot out at the start getting into P3. Feeling good on the bike and starting to feel himself again, Andy battled it out all of the race to finish in P5.

P11 & P5 on the day, Andy managed to salvage 7th overall.

Round 4

It was a lot cooler going into Sunday’s races and they had put a lot of water down on the circuit overnight so Andy looked forward to putting together another good day.

Race one - Andy got a good start and found himself in P6. Managing to keep the pace with the guys in front and with the circuit changing all the time as it was drying, he made a small mistake and dropped a place to Sean Smith. Taking a few laps to compose himself, he made a pass on Smith to take back P6 where he stayed untill the end of the race.

Race Two - A good start was hindered by poor line choices into the first few turns, forcing Andy into P7 which was a little frustrating. He was really struggling towards the end with his bike fitness and could only salvage a P8 at the end.

Race Three - Managing a top 3 start going into the last race and the track was very rough, Andy again tried to push the pace of the leaders, but it was just too much and he faded quickly, loosing places, dropping him into P7 by the end of the race.

“I finished 6th overall on the day, so I can only be happy with my performance. I know I'm still a bit rusty on the bike but going to keep things fun and give it 100% at Norley at Round 5 in a few weeks.”
