Kyle Smith makes it win number two for Dynavolt Triumph
Dynavolt Triumph’s Kyle Smith delivered a second victory with a dominant display in difficult conditions in the shortened Quattro Group British Supersport feature race at Thruxton today.
The FUCHS SILKOLENE sponsored rider took control of the lead as the race got underway in full wet conditions after a huge rain shower drenched the track and only Currie could keep with him as they battled for the top step of the podium, a full 14 seconds ahead of the chasing pack. Smith’s win moves him up to third place in the championship, a championship which is now wide open.
Kyle Smith: “A fantastic weekend for the Dynavolt Triumph crew, another podium, another win. I’m really happy with the way the season is progressing, the way the bike is developing. Every time I go out it feels a little bit better and I feel more comfortable on it. So we’ll keep working and see if we can stay on the top for the next races.”
Teammate Brandon Paasch took a confidence boosting fourth in the Supersport class, his best finish of the year to date with a stunning last lap overtake, outdragging McClinchy to the line. Paasch adds 13 points to his tally and moves to seventh in the championship.
Brandon Paasch: “Overall a great race here at Thruxton. I’m pretty pumped, I passed someone to the line. I started 13th and came through the field. Felt good, enjoyed it and now keep building.”
Dynavolt Triumph Team Manager Simon Buckmaster: “ A fantastic result, a great ride by Kyle. Obviously a bit nervy for us because we want to win so much but he just stayed calm and put a superb race together. Ben Currie was with him for a while but when Kyle needed to he pulled away and won the race.”
“Big shout out for Brandon Paasch too, he just got faster and faster as the race went on. He’s not got the experience of riding in the rain like Kyle has so it was a great result for him to take to the next round.”
