Podium for Owen Jenner at Cadwell
With a forecast for a really mixed bag of weather, we needed to take advantage of the drier sessions as best we could to try and secure the best grid positions for our one race of the weekend.
Friday free practice was dry and meant everyone could get out & start to learn more about the track & fine tune their set up. Seth hadn’t raced at Cadwell Park before so this was a huge learning weekend for him.
For Saturday qualifying it was much more mixed conditions & tyre choice proved to be key. Everyone played their part & fought hard to retain their early positions in the session but with 10 or so minutes to go the rest of the field also upped their game & reviewed their tyre choices & we found ourselves a little adrift of where we needed to be.
Race day itself was also a complete mixed bag of conditions. There was a dry line appearing on track but for the majority it was still damp. A mixture of tyre choices across the team saw an exciting race play out. An early slide for Eugene McManus saw his race come to an abrupt end, Eugene was absolutely fine & the bike is fixed up again & ready to go!
Seth Crump continued to struggle a little with the new experience of Cadwell & the tricky conditions. He wasn’t confident of the conditions or his set up & made the decision to retire from the race.
Owen Jenner & Asher Durham meanwhile were having some fair old battles as they ticked off the laps! With some real tussles between Owen, Zak Corderoy & Liam Delves, Owen wasn’t about to give way to anyone as he could sense a podium was in his grasp! Asher also continued to battle his way through the pack finally ending his race in a well deserved & very well ridden 5th place.
Owen continued to keep ahead of the chasing pack to bring home a podium finish in 3rd place. A really well ridden race full of determination & the desire to get back into those winning ways!
We now reset and look forward to Snetterton in 2 weeks time when the full Academy Team will be back on track.
