Sharp Motorsport at Anglesey
Qualifying:
After a good day’s testing on the Friday prior to the Anglesey race meeting the team found real good pace in dry conditions. The setup was tweaked through the day to suit the dry track and the lap times got better and better. Heading into an early 9am qualifying on Saturday morning the rain came in resulting in a very wet qualifying session.
Arron Sharp hadn’t really had much wet testing in the car so the team put together a wet set up for the car and was going into qualifying expecting a top ten result with such a competitive grid of cars.
Arron struggled with the handling of the car through the session but managed to qualify P5 on a grid of 21 cars.
This was great as it put the team in a good starting position for Race 1.
Race 1:
Conditions for race 1 were tricky as the track was damp, the team gambled for a dry set up but whilst waiting in Park Ferme prior to gridding up the rain came back resulting in a wet track again.
Arron made a great start moving up to P4 off the lights, the leading pack managed to pull a gap early on as Arron was struggled with the car set up. After 3 laps of holding off the car behind Arron lost a position and dropped back to P5.
Arron finished P5 in Race 1.
Race 2:
Race 2 was dry conditions and started P5. Arron again had a great start but for a few laps he got stuck behind the car in front. Arron had more pace but just couldn’t find an opening to make a move. On lap 6 Arron made a late lunge into turn 2 and managed to pass the car moving up to P4. Arron kept pushing to close the gap to P3 but unfortunately there wasn’t enough laps left to catch the car in front.
Arron finished P4 in race 2.
Great work Arron!
