New Patron for Wrexham Glyndwr University TWP Racing

19.05.2017 - 12:00

Just because the team is laid-up for two months awaiting the next 750 Motor Club CARTEK Club Enduro race that doesn't mean it hasn't been full steam ahead at their Wrexham home.

On top of the continuing preparation and constant mid-season upgrades to the teams two MX-5 endurance race cars, today (Friday 19 May) saw the team visit Oulton Park where British Touring Car Championship race-winning driver Adam Morgan officially become Patron of Wrexham Glyndwr University TWP Racing.

Adam Morgan

Not content with an already hectic annual schedule - that includes winning races both in the UKs most competitive race series and further afield in China - Adam happily accepted the new role:

"I’m mega-excited to become Patron of TWP, I’m looking forward to working with them and racing with the team later this year."

Adam will pilot his Mercedes A-Class this Sunday in a packed grid at Oulton Park - the University's home Circuit as well as his. Adam currently sits fifth in the BTCC driver standings, with Ciceley Motorsport the top-placed independent team in the Championship.

Adam will drive with TWP at the12hr Race of Remembrance at Anglesey Circuit this November.

Friendships

Taking time out from a busy day (the family-based team run four Renault Clios in the Clio Cup as well as the touring car) and talking of the Patronage, Ciceley Motorsport Commercial Manager Norman Burgess said "TWP's Team Principle has been a friend for years and we always look after our friends!"

That friendship has also seen Ciceley extend their sponsors to the University with Fuchs Lubricants kindly supporting TWP with both product and post-race lubricant-testing.

TWP Team Principle Jon Earp said "today has been the culmination of two years work, it's fair to say that the support of the Ciceley Motorsport family - in particular Norman and Adam - has opened doors to us that twelve months ago we could only dream of. From oils and lubricants to the awning that provides us our race weekend home, all those contacts have come through Big Normski; in terms of our own aspirations we really couldn't find a better team to try and emulate than Ciceley Motorsport and we are all very proud to carry the Ciceley logo on our teamwear!"

As well as a tour of both the garage and the Clio paddock, the team allowed the Students to get hands-on with the Mercedes, great learning preparation for TWP's latest build project - the first Alfa Romeo 159 endurance race car in the world...
