Cyclists gear up for Potteries challenge
Cyclists of all abilities are set to hit Stoke and the surrounding areas when the second staging of the FUCHS SILKOLENE Tour of the Potteries takes place this weekend.
Organisers today announced that more than 100 people have already pre-registered to take part in challenge, which sets off from FUCHS SILKOLENE’s Hanley headquarters and heads towards the Peak District on Sunday, June 25.
With more entries coming in all the time and registration also available on the day, organisers are hopeful that at least 200 cyclists will take part in the event, which is raising money for The Donna Louise Children’s Hospice in Stoke-on-Trent.
Joost Van Genderen, Head of FUCHS SILKOLENE, said: “This is the second Tour of the Potteries and many people who took part last year have already signed up to do it all again. “It should be a great day and we’re looking forward to welcoming people to the start line at our base in Hanley.”
After feedback that last year’s course was a little too challenging, this year sees shorter and punchier routes.
Joost added: “We have two options this year – one 104km and the other 44km. “Although riders set off from FUCHS SILKOLENE headquarters in the middle of a city, it doesn’t take long to get out into the Staffordshire countryside. “There are rolling fields and hills before heading into the Peak District National Park. A lot of climbing is on the cards but the spectacular views make the effort worth it.
“There is also a choice of two family rides for younger riders - an extended ride of 25km or a shorter ride of 10km.” There is an early bird entry gift for the first 200 riders. All routes will be fully sign posted and there will be a feed stop on the long ride, as well as mechanical and medical support. Every entrant will receive a FUCHS SILKOLENE Cycle goody bag and there will be medals for all finishers on completion.
Entrance is £29 for the long ride and £19 for the short ride, or £5 extra for those who register on the day. Advance registration and further information is available at www.wheelsinwheels.com
FUCHS SILKOLENE now also has a range of bicycle products, including wet lube, dry lube and everyday lube as well as suspension fork oils and greases.
