Linus Sundström Preparing for Swedish GP
Swedish speedway sensation Linus Sundström will race against some of the best in the world at the Swedish GP.
Strong performances by the FUCHS SILKOLENE backed rider have seen Sundström win a wildcard to the event in Målilla on August 12th.
Sundström was part of the Swedish national team which won silver at this year’s Speedway World Cup in Leszno. The team won the first event at their home track in Västervik to book a place in the final.
“It was a great feeling to put the yellow and blue race suit on again and to race in front of all the Swedish fans,” said 26-year-old Sundström.
The final was a race between Poland, Sweden, Russia and England. Poland were huge favourites for the gold medal and lived up to expectations, with Sweden coming home in second.
Sundström’s club team Masarna continues to perform well and have already booked their place in the play-offs with two races to go.They are second in the league behind Elit Vetlanda.
Sundström said: “My performances in Masarna this year have improved a lot from previous seasons and with two rounds to go I’m the best Swedish rider in the league and seventh overall, with nine GP riders behind me in the ranking list.
“My good performances have resulted in a wildcard to the Swedish GP. I’m really looking forward to race against the 15 best riders in the world and hope I can have a good meeting.”
