Weekly Motorsport Round-Up #22
After the busy period recently including a Bank Holiday Monday full of thrills and spills, it has been a quieter week for our sponsored riders and racers.
Attentions focus on the British Superbikes this weekend as the PBM BeWiser Ducati team head to Silverstone for round nine.
It’s a triple-header weekend which will decide the Showdown line-up. Silkolene-backed Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne leads the championship but still has a bit of work to do to confirm his place in the final shake-up.
Team-mate Glenn Irwin will be looking to finish the season on a high as he continues his recovery from a shoulder injury.
Meanwhile, another team sponsored by FUCHS Silkolene, the Smiths Racing BMW team, are also hoping to be involved in the Showdown.
Star rider Peter Hickman is currently second in the championship. A good weekend at Silverstone will see him seal his spot.
Unfortunately, one Silkolene rider who won’t be competing for a while is Lara Small, who has broken her arm
Lara said: “I was out mountain biking when it happened. I’ve had it pinned and I’m well on my way to a full recovery “Clearly racing will have to pause for the time being.”
Resurgent Adam Morgan is not in action until September 16-17 – and it can’t come soon enough.
Morgan said: “Our pace has always been good enough to put us in the top ten in the races and now, we have proved again what this car can do. With the reliability sorted, we should be able to fight for more podiums before the end of the campaign.”
