Wins and podiums for Sponsored Teams
Gongs galore for Team Green Kawasaki
FUCHS Silkolene-backed Team Green Kawasaki won multiple races and championships in the final round of the 2019 Arenacross Tour at the FlyDSA Arena.
An overall Super Final crown was not to be for KX450 pilot Greg Aranda, who was pipped to top spot by Cedric Soubeyras.
Aranda and Soubeyras were banging bars at the front of the pack throughout the entire tour, with the final race of the series to decide who would be crowned the champion.
Despite maximum effort from Greg Aranda, he crossed the line in second place by the smallest of margins.
But the Team Green man did scoop the PRO 450 Class title with a massive lead of 77 series points after the final race of the weekend.
The 250cc AX Rookie Class was dominated in all six rounds of the series by Kawasaki KX250 rider, Ben Clayton who out performed all other riders at most of the events. Clayton won the majority of the races and finished off the tour in the same winning style when he crossed the line first in the last race and won the Championship in doing so.
The Team Green Supermini Cup proved to be a tremendous success in its maiden year, with the racing going down to the wire on every occasion. It was a remarkable last race battle between Raife Broadley and Alfie Jones. Despite facing tonnes of pressure from Jones, Broadley took the title by the narrowest of margins. Along with the crown Broadley took home the first place price, being his Kawasaki KX85 race machine.
Elsewhere with the team…
The FUCHS Silkolene-backed Quattro Plant JG Speedfit Kawasaki team has taken the wraps off its new motorcycle for 2019 – and it’s a stunner.
The new livery was revealed at the London Motorcycle Show this week.
The Ninja ZX-10RR sports a striking green, black and white design, with the FUCHS Silkolene logo proudly on the front and back of the motorcycle.
Sally Travis, marketing manager at FUCHS UK, said: “We are very proud to be supporting the Quattro Plant JG Speedfit Kawasaki team this season and we think the bike looks amazing.
“We can’t wait to see it out on the track when the Bennetts British Superbike Championship gets going at Silverstone in April.”
Weighing 206kgs, the Ninja ZX-10RR has max power of 197.2 HP @ 13,000 rpm and max torque of 113.5 N.m (11.6 kgf.m) @ 11,500 rpm.
Riding for the team this year will be Carrickfergus favourite Glenn Irwin and Australian ace Ben Currie.
Naylor nails it on Cambrian rally
Patrick Naylor and Ian Lawrence made a dream start to their 2019 rally season with a fine fourth overall and first in class NR4 on the Cambrian rally in north Wales last Saturday.
The event was the first round of two Motorsport UK championships - the British Rally Championship and the BTRDA Clubmans’ Rally Championship – and two FUCHS Lubricants supported drivers took the start ramp in the BTRDA event; Naylor / Lawrence in the Mitsubishi Evo IX in class NR4, and Ian Joel / Graeme Wood in the Ford Escort Cosworth, running in class B14.
Both crews were immediately on the pace in the north Wales forests of Clocaenog and Alwen, both crews setting top ten times out of the 97 starters.
Naylor / Lawrence continued their assault on the podium with a continuous string of consistently fast times, never dropping below seventh over the whole seven stages in spite of persistent minor niggles with electrical gremlins during the day. They were delighted to finish fourth overall, and comfortably took Group N honours. They are now looking forward to the next round of the championship, the Malcolm Wilson rally in March.
Not so fortunate were Joel / Wood, who on stage two dropped a back wheel into a roadside ditch after a fast open right hander. The car was coming back on to the track when the nearside rear wheel hit a hidden culvert, which pushed the wheel back into the arch, damaged the radiator and effectively ended their challenge for the day.
Bogie takes podium place on first BRC round
FUCHS Lubricants backed rally team CA1 Sport took two crews to the Cambrian rally, the opening round of the British Rally Championship in Wales on Saturday. David Bogie / John Rowan and Thomas Preston / Andrew Roughead were both in Fabia R5s, but were up against three international crews in Ford Fiesta R5 cars from world rally team M-Sport.
Both the FUCHS backed crews finished the ten-stage event, Bogie / Rowan in second overall after a trouble free run to get their championship season off to a flying start, and Preston / Roughead pleased with their clean run to 10th overall.
Also competing in the Cambrian Rally was the FUCHS-backed Myerscough College Motorsport Team.
Bart Lang and Sinclair Young finished the first round of British Rally Championship with no major issues along the way, ably looked after by the team of students.
The car finished 21st overall and third Fiesta R2T.
FUCHS Lubricants 1400 Challenge kicks off on Cambrian
The inaugural round of the FUCHS Lubricants 1400 Challenge was a feature of the Cambrian rally on Saturday, with a total of 20 registered crews making the trip to north Wales. The Challenge is split into three classes, depending on the specification of the cars, with the overall leader of the Challenge coming from the 1400S class, Chris Powell / Jim Lewis in the Talbot Sunbeam, with Dave and Toby Brick in the Vauxhall Corsa only seven seconds adrift after 45 miles of stages.
