Season Review - Ciceley Motorsport
FUCHS sponsored Adam Morgan crowned his most successful season yet in the British Touring Car Championship at Brands Hatch with three more top 10 finishes to secure ninth place in the ultra-competitive series.
Ciceley Motorsport unveiled their racing colours at the 2016 Autosport Show. Returning for another campaign in their racing Mercedes-Benz A-Class, the iconic yellow-black livery lit up the grid.
Adam’s season started with a bang as in race three of the first meet (Brands Hatch Indy) he scored his first race win of 2016. Buoyed by this early success, the team then suffered a disappointing round at Donington Park before Adam claimed his biggest points haul of the season at Thruxton. With a 1st and two 3rd place finishes over the three races, Adam found himself amongst the title challengers.
As was the nature of this years championship, many drivers sat atop the race podiums, keeping the overall standings very close throughout most of the season.
With nobody staking a claim for the title, Adam continued to race for good points to keep the championship alive however, suffering the odd disappointing finish, Morgan found himself battling for the familiar top ten finish. An accolade he was able to secure with a strong final round at Brands Hatch.
2016 arguably didn’t end quite as successfully as Ciceley’s early season form promised however it was still a year of many highs with Adam developing further as a driver and understanding what it takes to win.
Adam claimed 2 wins, totaling 5 podiums in 2016. Completing 27 of the 30 races on the BTCC calendar, he amassed 233 points in what is still only his fourth year in the Championship. On route to his 9th place finish (3rd in the Independent drivers standings), Morgan recorded 4 fastest laps and 18 top ten finishes.
Ciceley Motorsport enjoyed 6th position in the HiQ Teams Championship, 2nd in the Independent Teams Championship.
Adam has travelled the world in the UK racing off-season, racing in various events and claiming numerous victories. Can 2017 be his year in BTCC?
