Round-Up: Morganator is back in business
Morganator is back in business
FUCHS-backed Adam Morgan and the Ciceley Motorsport team are back in business in the British Touring Car Championship after three top 10 finishes at Knockhill.
Morgan admits his early season problems had him questioning the pace of his Mercedes Benz A-Class – but his performance at Thruxton, followed by this success in Scotland, has lifted spirits.
Morgan finished ninth and seventh in races one and two – and completed a great day with a spot on the podium in P3 on the final outing.
He told us: “The weekend has left me 12th in the championship and now all our sights are on getting into the top 10 by the end of the season. With the momentum we have at the moment, that is certainly achievable.”
Rallycross heads to Pembrey...
Drew leads the way at Pembrey
Drew Bellerby is currently riding high at the head of the BMW Mini leader board in the British Rallycross championship after scoring two wins in the last two rounds. She now leads David Bell by 13 points (131 to 117) after five rounds, and this coming weekend’s double header (Saturday and Sunday) will be crucial to her in maintaining her lead.
Speaking earlier this week, Drew said “My car is prepped and ready to go, and I’m looking forward to getting back to Pembrey – I really like this track with the reversed direction on Sunday, it’s open and flowing. Playing your joker lap at the right time can be really crucial here, you’ve got to carry your speed through the tight section before you peel off onto the joker. I can’t wait!”
Brown looking to repeat podium visits at Pembrey
“I was so distraught, I nearly packed it in at Lydden!” That was Steve’s unconsidered opinion after being shunted off at the first bend of the first lap of the first heat at the last round held at Lydden Hill. Fortunately for him (and his fans) he got back in the car after watching the herculean efforts of Kevin and Dave to replace the offside front corner of his Fuchs backed BMW Mini, and with improving times throughout the day in the heats, he showed his class with a fine 2ndplace behind Drew Bellerby in the final.
This result has moved him up to 3rdin the points table, just eight points behind second place, in his first ever season in rallycross.
“It’ll be good at Pembrey, I’m looking forward to it. This is my second visit, and I did ok last time out, so it’ll be good being able to take the race to Drew”, Steve explained earlier this week.
Paige puts Lydden disappointment behind her
Paige is hoping that the mechanical woes that beset her at Lydden are behind her as she heads to Pembrey for this weekend’s double header. “The diff collapsing at Lydden was just awful – there was nothing we could do (to the Exige) on the day, so I just had to grit my teeth, stay positive, and look forward to the next round” Paige said this week. “It’s got to be better at Pembrey – the car has been stripped and rebuilt by Dave and Kev, and I’m looking forward to seeing how the Lotus performs at Pembrey”.
Paige is currently third in the Supernational class behind Ovenden and Lomax.

It’s Showdown time
It’s Showdown time in the British Superbikes – and there’s plenty of FUCHS Silkolene interest.
The championship heads to the TT Circuit in Assen, Netherlands, with it all still to play for.
PBM Be Wiser Ducati teammates Josh Brookes and Scott Redding, backed by Silkolene, occupy first and second place in the standings at the moment – with just three points between them.
And also still in the mix is Smiths Racing BMW’s Peter Hickman, currently 47 points shy of top spot.
It promises to be a thrilling weekend.
Tough on the sand for Tudor
Rich Tudor headed off to Hawkstone Park in Shropshire for the penultimate round of the Apico BSMA Nationals.
The track was prepared very well but, not being a good sand rider by his own admission, he found it very difficult.
Saturday’s racing was tough and Rich could only manage 13th and 10th.
Going into Sunday he needed to improve but the concrete start was making it even harder to progress. He managed to improve on Sunday slightly and finished 10th and ninth.
Rich is now sitting fourth in the championship with a round to go and still all to play for.
Andy Marchant enjoyed a good day on the MMX800/Redline Honda, taking all three wins and taking first overall.
Andy is first overall in the BSMA over-35s class.
JSR Racing secure top spot
With the AMCA championship over, JSR Racing just had the last two rounds of the IMBAs left for the 2019 season.
The team headed to the Meijel region in the Netherlands. It was a beautiful track but the sand was very different to what the team is used to.
James Dodd managed seventh overall, with Ashley Thomas in eighth and Andy Smart 14th.
It wasn’t the weekend the team was hoping for – but they have still managed to secure the top spot for the overall championship.
Champion James has 117 points, while Andy moved from third to second. There was upward progression for Ashley, too, moving from fifth to fourth.
With one round left, JSR is hoping to make it a fantastic 1-2-3.
