Challenge
A wind turbine owner and maintenance company had experienced issues with the effectiveness of their toothing grease. Soon after the grease was applied, it would be squeezed out of the gear teeth and leave solid particles behind. This lubricant was messy, difficult to apply, and easily migrated away from the gear teeth. When a lubricant migrates, it cannot adequately protect the component surface.
Solution
After speaking with the company, we suggested they switch to an aerosol dry-film lubricant. Once applied, this aerosol forms a solid, dry, dust-repellent lubricating film. CEPLATTYN 300 SPRAY lasts just as long as a grease and offers excellent adhesion, protection against wear and corrosion, and water resistance.
Results
Several technicians tested the aerosol and found it was easier, faster, and cleaner to apply. With a faster application, the wind turbine required less downtime.
