Case Study - RENOFORM OS 7806

Challenge

Motivated by potential associated EPA restrictions, a leading manufacturer of precision formed products desired to replace chlorinated-paraffin based soluble stamping oils used in their most severe operations. They had previously been using a heavily chlorinated petrolum soluble oil at a 20% in water treat rate. The company required a chlorine-free replacement lubricant with no adverse effects to part quality, tooling, post-processing, or disposal. The application had to maintain tight tolerances and tool life of dies while improving part finishes. They also sought a solution that could be applied via flood and spray application methods.

Solution

RENOFORM OS 7806 is a heavy-duty, chlorine-free, soluble oil intended for severe drawing and stamping. This product is more sustainable as it can maintain a stable pH and resist microbial growth, so it can be recirculated. The implementation of this product helped improve part quality via tighter tolerances and enhanced part cleanliness and finish. Tool life was maintained and increased in some areas. Fluid sump life also improved, thus extending lubricant life and improving the workers’ environment

Results

By using RENOFORM OS 7806 , the customer experienced fewer part rejects as tighter tolerances were achieved more consistently. The customer no longer had to worry about chlorine-related corrosion and overall rust protection improved. They also saved time and money as lighter lubricant residue reduces time spent cleaning and costs associated with disposing chlorinated-oil were reduced.

Advantages

  • Increased Tool Life
  • Chlorine-Free
  • Rust Protection
