Thundercat National Championship Series Kicks-Off in East London
East London saw the second leg of the Thundercat National Championship Series hosted by the Boarder Inflatable Power Boat club.
Team BCR/Arrow Underwriting Managers arrived in East London early to set up for the event, held over two days with a surf event taking place at Gonubie beach on the Saturday and a 120km longhaul event at Orient beach on Sunday.
Day 1: The first heat in the premier modified class saw Team BCR/Arrow Underwriting Managers, sponsored by FUCHS Lubricants, finishing 3rd.
In heat 2, the team’s boat unfortunately flipped causing them to finish in 6th position on the grid for the start of the final race. In the last race, team BCR/Arrow Underwriting Managers passed a few boats and finished 3rd overall in the race for the day.
Day 2: The 120km Longhaul event took place from Orient Beach Sunday. Team BCR/Arrow Underwriting Managers got-off to good start and held on util the end taking 2nd position overall. The team’s other Infanta race boat powered by a Yamaha 50hp outboard took 1st and 2nd positions overall.
“We have learned a lot from this competition and are ready to start with preparations for the next event. The next event that team BCR/Arrow Underwriting Managers will be taking part in is the Cape Town National taking place at Blouberg beach on 2&3 March 2018. This venue is known for huge surf conditions and promises to keep the spectators entertained throughout the weekend.
