Weekend 17 February Racing Reports

MAD Racing: Round 1 - F400 Endurance Kart Series (18 Feb - Zwartkops Raceway) The 2017 season defending champs Team MAD Racing sponsored by FUCHS Lubricants, showed prowess as they went into Round 1 of F400 Endurance Kart Series to defend their title which they’ve held for two seasons in a row.

Excellent driving was the order of the day, for Dewald Brummer and Bevan Williams as the team claimed pole position in the first race, fastest lap of the second race and winning all three races.

“This was a perfect day of racing for the team. The FUCHS Lubricants products we are using add that needed competitive advantage to our racing,” said Deon Brummer, team manager. The team’s next race will be on 25 March at the Vereeniging Kart Circuit.

Marc Ansley: was victorious in Round 1 MX3 Class of the Northern Regions Championship which took place at SandTrax Motocross Park in Sasolburg.

Lyle Ramsay: Round 1 MotorMart VW Challenge Championship (Midvaal raceway) Lyle Ramsay’s 2018 MotorMart VW Challenge campaign got off to a nightmare start at Midvaal Raceway.

Practice session: Ramsay, part of the Monroe Racing RSA team, sponsored by FUCHS Lubricants, showed consistent pace in the set-up of their car to what would be perceived to be an ideal setup.

The qualifying session saw Ramsay posting the fourth quickest time. In Race 1 Ramsay encountered mechanical issues while trying to finish the 10-lap race. This saw him finishing in sixteenth position; much lower than he had anticipated.

Race 2: Ramsay took to the circuit even though the team were unable to fix the mechanical issues. Despite starting from the back, he finished in ninth place. He was placed in thirteenth position overall for the day.

“This was by far our most challenging weekend at the races and will only count as motivation for us during the rest of the season. Despite having mechanical issues, the team stood together and is gearing up for the next encounter,” said Ramsay.

Round 2 of the 2018 MotorMart VW Challenge championship will take place at Zwartkops Raceway on Saturday, March 17.

AM Racing: Round 1 Autobarn SuperHtach (Midvaal raceway) AM Racing used the off-season period to build a new 16v engine to race in the new Class A, that Alex Marques would be racing in. Having little practise time to properly test the engine, Alex had a good qualifying race finishing the session 5th on the grid.

Race 1: Facing 24 other competitors in the race to claiming victory, Marques was content on claiming podium position and despite all his attempts he finished in 4th place.

Race 2 Marques started the race in the top 3 and after 10 laps of racing he finished in 4th place, giving him a 4th place overall for the day. “After the 1st race of the season the team is happy with the results. Our goal is to finish in the top 3 this season,” said Marques.

Regan Wasmuth: Round 1 of the 2018 South African National Championship. Round 1 of the 2018 South African National Championship took place on Saturday 17 February in Port Elizabeth. In qualifying race, Regan Wasmuth finished fourth.
