Wet Weekend Proves Favourable for Racing Teams
HUD Racing: The muddy and cold Dullstroom 400 race saw teams doing the 170 kilometers course route twice. HUD Racing team S14 drivers David Huddy and Gerhard Schutte finished 12th in the Production Vehicle Category and 1st in Class S.
“Thanks to FUCHS Lubricants for their support. The FUCHS products have given us the competitive edge to win,” said David Huddy, HUD Racing S14 car driver.
This marks a good start for both HUD Racing teams S14 and E14 as they have now both registered podium finishes in their first races of the 2018 season.
AM Racing: Despite the wet conditions that made it dangerous and almost impossible to race, the young FUCHS Lubricants-sponsored AM Racing’s, Alex Marques, put his best performance to secure 3rd quickest in Class A in the qualifying round of the Autobarn SuperHatch series.
Race 1: The water-logged circuit made it slippery for racers, and in the fourth lap Marques almost lost control of the vehicle but managed to recover. Unfortunately, this saw him lose a few positions and he finished in 5th place.
Race 2: The start of the race saw Marques experience a mechanical failure, but despite this problem he finished the race in 5th place. AM Racing was awarded 5th place overall for the day.
“The wet weather and mechanical failures made is challenging but still that didn’t stop us doing our best. With the next round of the series taking place on May 12th, this will give the team enough time to prepare to get back on the podium position,” said Marques.
Monroe Racing: All odds proved to be in favour of Lyle Ramsay as he used his home ground advantage to obtain two podium finishes in Round 2 of the 2018 MotorMart VW Challenge at Zwartkops.
On practice day Lyle Ramsay finished third quickest with his best time of the day during this session.
Race 1: The race started when it was raining but the rain soon stopped. However, the circuit was wet and slippery. Even though Ramsay struggled with visibility, he was determined to redeem himself at home by finishing in third position; his first podium finish for the 2018 season.
Race 2: Ramsay started in fifth position. The FUCHS Lubricants-sponsored Monroe Racing Team driver showed determination as he quickly moved to second position where he stayed till the end of the race.
“I have regained my confidence after a good day of racing at home. This has proven that nothing is impossible. Now, as I prepare for the next race, I can easily say I am ready to finish in the top three again,” said Ramsay.
