FUCHS Lubricants-Sponsored Teams Produce Astonishing Racing Results
Team BCR/Arrow Underwriting Managers
The third round of the National Thundercat Championships for Team BCR/Arrow Underwriting Managers took place at Bloubergstrand. The annual Blouberg Surf National was run over a two-day surf racing format with each class (stock, pro stock and modifieds) completing three heats and a final on each day.
Team BCR/Arrow, sponsored by FUCHS Lubricants, arrived at the event with a newly built race boat and were ready to take all the points over the two days. Currently lying in second place overall on the National log, this would help them close the gap on the log leaders.
The racing weekend went well with the team, obtaining three 2nd positions and a 4th on Saturday and two 2nd positions and a 4th on Sunday. This resulted in placing 2nd overall in the premier modified class for the weekend.
Team BCR/Arrow have managed to close the gap from 13 points to 6 points behind log leaders. Only one National event is left in the 2017/2018 season, the “Ice Block Run” taking place on the Vaal River in June.
“We are working hard to ensure that we will stay at the top of the log and even move up to 2nd position on the National log by the end of the season,” said Marc Gleed, team manager.
The next regional event will be at the Amanzi Festival taking place in Port Alfred over the Easter Weekend for which the team is busy preparing for at present.
HUD Racing:
The HUD Racing team S14 and E14 cars went into another wet and muddy weekend as they raced in the Barberspan 500 Regional race. HUD Racing’s S14 drivers David Huddy and Gerhard Schutte were crowned champions after winning the National Invitational class. Only nine vehicles finished the race from the 27 that originally started.
The E14 car duo of E14 Rod Cook (Driver) and rookie Jaco Schutte (Navigator) unfortunately had to pull out the race early due to mechanical problems with their vehicle.
Lance Isaacs Racing
The Kyalami Grand Prix circuit was host to Round 3 of the Bridgestone Thunderbikes, as part of the Extreme Festival. The race with a peloton of 24 bikes saw the FUCHS Lubricants-sponsored Lance Isaacs struggling initially in race 1, but soon found his rhythm in lap 7 and took the lead to finish first with the fastest lap of the race. In Race2, Isaacs led from the front to take the win making it two wins in a row.
It was also a good weekend for his team mate, Harry Timmermann, who finished 3rd and 4th in both races respectively, being his first time racing at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit.
