Overall Victories for Lance and Harry at Phakisa
Round 4 of the Bridgestone Thunderbike Challenge brought the Lance Isaacs Racing team to the 4,2-kilometer track of Phakisa in Welkom on Saturday 14th April 2018.
The FUCHS Lubricants-sponsored and current Championship leader, Lance Isaacs, qualified in pole position while team mate Harry Timmerman struggled with a set-up change to his bike but still qualified in P2 in his class.
Race 1: Isaacs took full control of the race with six laps remaining to finish in position 1, leading his closest competitor by more than three seconds. Harry managed to finish second in his class.
Race 2: Again, starting from pole position, Isaacs managed to stay in the lead until the
final lap, when he was held up by back markers and lost the lead. He completed the race in second position.
Harry had his best race of the season, winning in his class. Both Lance Isaacs Racing riders were crowned overall winners of the day.
“This was a good weekend, I trust FUCHS Lubricants products to make my racing smooth without fear of mechanical failures,” said Isaacs.
“To be honest, I’d rather finish second in a well fought battle without a drop of sweat than coming first,” he said
Timmerman added: “I am happy to be moving to the same class as Isaacs. Overall, I have been able to do improve my skills compared to the beginning of the season.”
Nicole Van Aswegen Makes Her Debut at Zimbabwe Nationals
Monroe Racing RSA, sponsored by FUCHS Lubricants, invited Nicole van Aswegen to race at the Zimbabwe Nationals held at the Bulawayo Motorsport Park circuit on behalf of Zoé Bosch on Saturday, 14 April 2018.
After an 18-month break from racing and this being her debut race outside South Africa, Nicole didn’t disappoint, qualifying in Position 5.
Heat 1: In the first few laps Nicole lost a few positions falling almost to the back of the peloton, but her skill saw her regain 5th position to the end of the race.
Heat 2: Again, Nicole started off well, but a mechanical fault resulted in her finishing in fifth position. In the handicap race, Van Aswegen finished in ninth position.
“It was an experience of a lifetime for Nicole as she debuted outside the country. The FUCHS Lubricants products used on her bike gave her a good competitive advantage and boosted her morale,” said Monroe Racing’s Team Manager Vic Rich.
