As part of the SA Bike Festival at Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit from 25-27 May, the SuperGP and Super600s championship racing took place on both the Saturday and the Sunday where South Africa’s fastest motorcycle riders come together to compete on Africa’s favourite race circuit.

The FUCHS Lubricants-sponsored Monroe Racing RSA team participated in Round 4 of the Super-GP Champions Trophy. The team’s racers Nicole van Aswegen and Luca Coccioni delivered good performances during the Super600 class races.

Friday’s short practice sessions didn’t give the riders much time for any fine-tuning as their focus was shifted to familiarising themselves with the circuit. The duo excelled in qualifying to post their fastest times of the day.

On Saturday, van Aswegen finished her race in eighth position and Coccioni, despite this being his debut at Kyalami he did well and finished ninth. During Sunday’s second race van Aswegen finished in ninth position with Coccioni right behind her once again in tenth place.  

“Overall, this was a good weekend of racing for both riders, considering they were out of action for a while. The FUCHS Lubricants product we use has made a huge difference in the power of the bikes, boosting the confidence of the riders,” said Vic Rich, team manager of Monroe Racing RSA.
