FUCHS Lubricants backed Racers Unstoppable at Midvaal Raceway
AM Racing: Round 4 of the Autobarn Superhatch championship at Midvaal raceway on 2nd of June 2018
In the qualifying race, the FUCHS Lubricants-sponsored AM Racing team’s Alex Marques qualified in 5th position with only a small gap between him and the race winner.
Race 1: The reverse grid order used from the qualifying race saw Marques starting in 7th position. He managed to pass two competitors and was 5th when the race was stopped. When it resumed, Alex pushed to finish in 4th place, 2 seconds behind 3rd place, narrowly missing a podium finish.
Race 2: The grid was once again reversed and Alex started 2nd on the grid. Unfortunately, his competitors had the best of him and despite him defending his position he lost a few places and finished in 5th place. The team was awarded a 4th place overall for the day.
Victory for Ramsay at Midvaal Raceway
It was a victorious weekend of racing for Lyle Ramsay Racing as the FUCHS Lubricants-sponsored Monroe Racing Team driver claimed his first ever victory in the MotorMart VW Challenge Class A.
Qualifying session: Ramsay secured a third-place finish on the grid for the first race.
Race1: Ramsay showed prowess in the first race as he battled it out with the top two log leaders to show his intentions of winning the title this year. However, victory was not to be his, as he finished the race in third place. After appealing for an infringement by one of the competitors he was granted second place.
Race2: After making a good start, Ramsay stayed in third position. At the end of the race, the first two cars to cross the line were penalised by 10 seconds for exceeding track limits. By default, this saw Ramsay obtain his first victory for the season. He was also given 1st place overall winner for the day.
“We came to Midvaal with a determination to secure solid results. Fortunately for us we were victorious. This has boosted the team morale as has put us in a favourable position in the challenge,” said Vic Rich, team amanger, Monroe Racing RSA.
Round 5 of both the Superhatch Championship and MotorMart VW Challenge 2018 Championship will take place at Dezzi Raceway in Port Shepstone on Saturday, August 11.
