Monroe Racing RSA - Zwartkops Winter Challenge

The cold weekend did not dampen the spirits nor stop racers from bringing their ‘A’ game to the Zwartkops Raceway as they embarked on the Zwartkops Winter Challenge.

The Monroe Racing Team, sponsored by FUCHS Lubricants, had Zoe Bosch starting the day by qualifying 16th to start from the grid in the first race. Her qualifying times showed that a lot of hard work would be needed if she was to obtain a podium finish.

Race 1: Bosch started well enjoying the race. After finding her rhythm she showed her improved skill by finishing the race in second position.

Race 2: Bosch rode even better, producing a best time of 1:06.8. She finished second overall in her class and was awarded as the fastest lady on the thunderbikes/sub10 grid.

LIR shows fighting power - Bridgestone Thunderbike National Challenge

The fifth round of the Bridgestone Thunderbike National Challenge returned to Zwartkops Raceway for the second time this season.

After a two-month break, FUCHS Lubricants sponsored team of Lance Isaacs and Harry Timmerman had to take on the early Saturday qualifying with close to freezing temperatures. Isaacs didn’t disappoint as qualified in 2nd position while Timmerman took 10th position in his class.

Race 1: The first race surprised Isaacs as he mistook it for a warm up lap, but his quick thinking saw him catch up to his competitors and finished in second position. His team mate Timmermann however struggled with his tyres and finished in position 14.

Race 2:  Isaacs was out for revenge, and when the lights turned green he immediately took the lead starting from second position on the grid. Despite being given a challenge by his closest competitor, he was able to hold on to the lead and took the checked flag for the win.

Timmerman, also showed his skill and experience as he got a first position overall of the day in his class. The team is already preparing for Round 6 of the challenge in 4 weeks in Port Elizabeth at the Aldo Scribante Raceway.
