FUCHS Lubricants Sponsored Racers Keep on Shining
Team BCR / Arrow Underwriting Managers - 2017/2018 National Thunder Cat Championship
The last round of the 2017/2018 National Thunder Cat Championship season took place at the Vaal River on June 9th in conjunction with the annual Ice Block event.
FUCHS Lubricants-sponsored Team BCR / Arrow Underwriting Managers arrived prepared for the 140km long-haul event which started at the Emerald Casino. The ‘Ice Block’ event is the last round of the National Championship season. The race would also determine where the team would finish in the 2017/2018 log of the championship.
Race 1: The team started well and were in position 3 in the first lap. They soon regained their confidence and moved to position 2 by the end of the 2nd lap which they held on to until the end of the race for the day. The team was given a 2nd position overall in the National Championship log standings for the 2017/2018 season.
“The team is happy with this achievement in the National Thunder Cat Championship. The FUCHS Lubricants oil we use definitely gave us the competitive advantage to stay on top of our racing,” said Marc Gleed, team manager.
The team is now preparing for the World Championships taking place in France in September and the 2018/2019 Trans Agulhas from 28 December to 1st January 2019 in Plettenberg Bay, over a distance of 800km.
Marc Ansley - Round 3 of the Northern Regions Championship
After being absent from racing for a few months due to injury, Marc Ansley, sponsored by FUCHS Lubricants, participated in Round 3 of the Northern Regions Championship at Terra Topia Motocross Track near Fourways on 9 June.
With the SA National event taking place in July at the same venue, the majority of national riders from across the country were present to use the race as a practise for the big race.
Practice: Marc posted the 5th fastest time which gave him the 5th gate pick in the MX3 class for the day’s racing.
Heat 1: Marc managed to hold on to 5th position for most of race. Unfortunately, one of his competitors managed to pass him near the end and he finished 6th.
Heat 2: Despite this being a tough heat, Marc managed to stay with hiscompetitors and finished in 6th position again. At the end of the day he was given 6th place overall for the day in the MX3 class.
“It felt good to be back racing and the FUCHS Lubricants definitely gave my bike the needed boost to help me stay with the leaders in all the heats. I was also happy to be back racing,” said Marc.
The next race will be the SA National event on the 7 July.
