Spectacular Racing Results From Motorsport Teams
FUCHS Lubricants-sponsored racers Lance Isaacs Racing claimed the 2018 Bridgestone Thunderbike Challenge championship at Zwarkops. While Jayden Ashwell, Cameron Durow and Regan Wasmuth finished Round 7, the last round of the Motocross Nationals with good results on Saturday 20 October at Dirt Bronco in Krugersdorp.
Jayden Ashwell: In the first heat, he was involved an accident which saw him lose a few positions, finishing 7th.
Heat 2: Ashwell made up for the positions he lost and took the lead of the race and won heat 2. This gave him a 3rd overall for the day and 4th overall in the log standings for the season in Class.
“The Silkolene lubricants I use from FUCHS have definitely improved my competitive advantage and boosted my morale when it comes to racing,” said Ashwell.
Cameron Durow: Going into the heat 1, Durow was all set after finishing the qualifying race with the fastest time.
Heat 1: Durow pushed from 5th position and passed a few of his competitors taking the lead position. However, with 4 laps to go he was involved in crash, this saw him finish in 3rd.
Heat 2: Durow didn’t let the pains from the crash distract him from his mission. As the gates opened, he took control of the race. His competitors tried to pass him, but he was determined to be victorious. He held on to his lead to finish the race in position 1. The win gave Durow an overall 1st for the day in Class.
Regan Wasmuth: Practise session for the final race of the Motocross season went well for Wasmuth were he achieved the 4th best time.
Heat 1: Wasmuth started the race in the lead, however, towards the end of the race he was involved in an accident which saw him finish the race in 6th position.
Heat 2: Wasmuth got off to off to another good start but some of his competitors passed him along the way and he eventually finished 4th. This gave him 5th overall in the last round and 3rd in the standings for the season.
“I’m really happy with my performance this season. The FUCHS lubricants I have been using have improved my performance. I’m looking forward to the 2019 season,” said Wasmuth.
Lance Isaacs Racing: The Bridgestone Thunderbike Challenge championship win has been long overdue for Lance Isaacs Racing. This was proved as the team duo claimed victories in their respective races. Isaacs took the overall championship and the most prestigious class X win. Harry Timmermann topped up the successful weekend, securing his Sub 10 A class title with a double win.
Qualifying: In qualifying Lance made sure that he didn’t take extraordinary risks and took a front row third position on the grid. Stablemate Harry Timmermann did an excellent job by qualifying in pole position in his Sub 10 A class and was 11th overall.
Race 1: The race was tricky but Isaacs held on until the finish line, crossing it in second position and claiming victories for both champion titles “Overall Bridgestone Thunderbike Challenge and Class X”. Teammate Timmermann dropped a few positions in the field but he was still able to take his class win, securing the Sub 10 A class victory.
Race2: Knowing he had already taken the overall victory for the season, Isaacs started his race cautiously to finish second on the podium again. Timmermann took another class win of the day. Timmermann will have to wait until the final round before he can celebrate his overall championship victory.
“It was a big gamble for me to start my own team three years back, but taking both titles has made it worth taking the chance. Using the correct lubricants from FUCHS has given our team the competitive edge to win racers,” said Issacs.
The final round of the championship will take place at Zwartkops Raceway on 10 November and the team can’t wait to have proper celebrations.
