Great comeback from FUCHS Lubricants-Sponsored Wilford Racing at Redstar
FUCHS FALCON CAR # 77 : TERRY WILFORD - 7 March

After a disastrous start to the 2020 season at Zwartkops, the FUCHS Falcon team re-grouped and the damaged engine was torn down for further inspection to see if there were any adverse issues which had taken place.  Not surprisingly all the bearings, both crankshaft and conrod, were all in perfect condition which was no surprise considering the quality of the Titan Pro- Race 10W60 which is used.  A new set of pistons were fitted to the engine and all parts were re-assembled.  

Our first opportunity to test the car was on Friday, 06 March, effectively the day before race day, and thus testing was very limited.  However, progress was made at qualifying on Saturday which saw the FUCHS Falcon ending up 4th on the grid which left the team reasonably happy.  

Race day was a fierce, closely contested competition between all drivers and the tight circuit made overtaking virtually impossible.  However, skilful driving left our team with a 3rd place and a very positive vibe amongst all concerned.

 
Having posted the fasted time in the first heat, the inverted grid for the second heat saw the FUCHS Falcon start from the back row.  An outstanding race with some superb driving tactics from Terry saw the FUCHS Falcon come from the back of the grid to lead the race – to the vociferous approval of all spectators who were screaming and waving when the Falcon came onto the grid in first position.  

However, a loose gearbox shifter resulted in a missed gear which cost us the first position but we managed to clinch second place after a great days racing for the FUCHS team.
