The Thundercat racing returned to Struisbaai for the first time in many years and the Catch Cook Two Oceans Challenge attracted a record entry of 47 race teams from across the country.

#FUCHSLubricants-sponsored Team Rusgenot Transport (marc Gleed racing and Wiltas ….) had once again put in a huge effort for this event and had spent a weekend testing in Struisbaai prior to the event which proved to be instrumental to our success. The two-day event was run over two days with surf racing taking place from the Struisbaai main beach on Saturday and a 150km Longhaul event which took place on the Sunday. This event is unique in the way that the competitors would round the Most Southern Tip of Africa on four occasions during the 150km Longhaul event.

Day 1: The team scored two 2nd place finishes in the elimination heats and a 3rd overall in the final. Day 2: The team began slowly in 3rd position, but with their experience they soon navigated their way through the shallow reefs off the Agulhas point and a race long dual ensued until the start of the last lap where they pulled out all the stops in the rough sea conditions and managed to take an overall victory by just over 1 minute to the second team.
