A Thrills and Frills Racing Weekend – Race Report 15 May
#FUCHSLubricants-sponsored teams faced a weekend filled with thrills and frills but still managed to maintain their composure.
The two-day King Of The Bay event was held at the popular Kings Beach in Port Elizabeth. Team Rusgenot Transport duo of Marc Gleed and Wiltus was prepared for both the 2 heats and a final on the Saturday and a 120km Long-haul on the Sunday.
The start saw a full grid of 12 boats that lined up for the race. The team managed to hold on to the 2nd position in both heats 1 and 2. This gave them a 2nd overall for the day. On Sunday, the bad weather conditions saw the race being shortened to two 50km races. The team experience saw them change the propeller to one suitable for the conditions. This paid back as they managed to pull off an overall win for the Long-haul as well as overall 1stt place in the Modified Class for the weekend.
The 2nd round of the 2021 Mobil 1 V8 Supercars Championship series visited Zwartkops Raceway on May 14-15. Wilford showed good pace while making his way back up to the front and made it two fourth place finishes for the day while setting the fastest lap of the race.
