Lyle, Alex and Savannah Embrace Youth Day Racing
Lyle Ramsay It was a tough weekend for Lyle Ramsay in the fourth round of the Comsol VW Challenge championship at his home circuit Zwartkops Raceway on Saturday, June 17.
The Monroe Racing team (sponsored by FUCHS Lubricants), Volkswagen Polo driver Ramsay finished in third position overall for the day in Class B.
The first race was aborted on the opening lap following an incident. The second race saw Ramsay getting off the line with one of his best starts of the season and challenging for the lead. Soon however he had to sacrifice pace to counter a suspension problem. Shortly afterwards he relinquished his second position in a bid to bring the car home safely in third position.
“I would like to thank the Monroe Racing team for the hard work that went into today. I’d also like to thank my team sponsors Fuchs Lubricants South Africa for their continued support,” said Ramsay. Ramsay’s next 2017 VW Challenge outing will see him compete at the Phakisa Freeway outside Welkom for the first time since 2014 on Saturday, 22 July.
AM Racing Extreme Festival Autobarn Superhatch Round 4 – Zwartkops Raceway - 17th of June 2017.
Qualifying was set to be a reverse of the top 4 competitors at the previous Phakisa race meeting, which meant Alex Marques would start on pole position. In Race 1 and 2 he finished 4th, AM Racing claimed 4th overall for the day gaining more valuable points in the overall championship. Round 5 takes place at Phakisa Raceway for the annual 200Km endurance race on the 22nd July.
Savannah The Youth Day Extreme Festival at Zwartkops Raceway was her first competitive event since Round 3 of the Super-GP Champions Trophy which was hosted at the same venue during May 2017.
During qualifying round, Savannah finished seventh position overall on the combined Zwartkops Thunderbikes/Sub 10 grid and in second position on the Sub 10 grid which is reasonably good following her crash earlier on.
In Race 1, Savannah finished in fourteenth position overall and in fifth position in the Sub 10 Class A field. In Race two she finished fifth in her class and fourteenth overall.
“It felt good to be back again after my break. I would like to thank my team Monroe Racing and our sponsors Fuchs Lubricants South Africa for the opportunity and continued support,” said Savannah.
