Lance Isaacs Racing Faces a Tough Hurdle in Phakisa While HUD Racing Brings Home Another Trophy
Lance Isaacs Battles in the Penultimate of Super GP Championship
The penultimate round of the SuperGP Champions Trophy took place at Phakisa Freeway on Saturday 28th August in Welkom.
Lance Isaacs only needed 3 laps to secure two top lap times during the qualifying session and was happy with his P4 and P3 for the Saturday race starts. “That was a truly efficient session and I am happy with my grid positions as I know I can work my way up during the races.”
The team decided to skip Saturday early morning warm up to prevent unnecessary damage on the bike and rider.
Race 1: Starting from P4 on the grid, Lance had a decent start and went on the attack straight away. “I knew that the two front runners would try to run away in the early stage and I wanted to make sure to stay close to the pack.” By the second lap Lance was in P3 and in the 5th lap took second position. Unfortunately, he suddenly lost the front end of his bike forcing him out of the race.
Race 2: His bike was fixed and ready. He started in P3 on the grid. But once again luck was not on his side as he encountered brake problems. To be safe he retired from the race in the 10th Lap.
“This was one of my best performances of the year, pity mechanical issues didn’t see me finish the race. I am hopeful though that we can make up for it in the final round of the championships at Redstar Raceway on September 23,” said Lance.
HUD Racing Victorious Again
HUD Racing’s duo of Rod and Rikus participated in the Regionals in Stella in their Nissan E14 where they came out victorious.
