Brilliant performance by Ramsay secures second place in championship
The Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit crowd were treated to another strong performance by Monroe Racing South Africa’s Lyle Ramsay on Saturday, November 4. Two second place finishes saw Ramsay securing second place on the 2017 VW Challenge Class B points table with one round remaining.
The qualifying session saw Ramsay in his Volkswagen Polo in second position in Class B with the team confident that they would be able to attack for the lead from their front starting position in the main races.
Race 1: The leading racer proved to be too much competition on the straight and Ramsay finished in second place.
Race 2: The second race was shortened to seven laps to compensate for delays in the schedule. Ramsay gave it his best finished in second position. Despite not coming first, Ramsay has managed 14 podium finishes from 16 starts including a race victory and never finishing lower than fourth. Overall, Ramsay secured second place in Class B 2017 VW Challenge season.
“We would’ve loved to stand on the top step of the podium today. I enjoyed the season. Thanks to our sponsors FUCHS Lubricants for the support,” said Ramsay
